About Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children (ASDC):

Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) is a local NGO, established in 1992 in Gaza City, in order to help persons with hearing disability in the Gaza Strip to have their chance in life through education, rehabilitation, and job training and employment opportunities.  From its establishment as a small school for the students with hearing disability serving 27 pupils in 1992, Atfaluna now serves more than 40,000 persons with and without disabilities annually through a multitude of interventions and training programs implemented within a holistic and right-based and inclusive approaches involving children and adults with without disabilities, their families, service providers organizations, and the community-at-large.

Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children, located in Gaza City, is inviting applications from qualified persons for the post of Advocacy Communication  Officer based on Middle area or South Gaza .

Duties and Responsibilities:

Advocacy Projects Implementation:

  • Develop advocacy projects plans and budgets
  • Participating in developing project proposals and project documentation
  • Coordinate with the teams and partners to conduct capacity building trainings for partners.
  • Responsible for supporting the programme’s advocacy plan
  • Establish advocacy monitoring and evaluation systems including indicators
  • Actively participate in project events (meetings/workshops/trainings)
  • Undertake other program administration tasks as and when necessary
  • Ensure transparency, ethical conduct and efficiency in project implementation 
  • Reporting on advocacy project activities and expenditure as requested by ASDC management and donors and according to the advocacy projects timeframes
  • Preparing of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Report any of changes which impact to the advocacy project implementation
  • Support ASDC to start up and implementation of the projects with good and adequate understanding of terms and conditions of projects agreement.
  • Introduce better integration of gender related aspects to the work plans of ASDC and ensure that activities are implemented, recorded, reported and analyzed to improve the gender equality situation.
  • Undertake regular field trips to the project sites with the purpose of performing monitoring assessments; develop reports and make a follow up on recommendations.
  • Develop advocacy media plans and work on implementation of media initiatives that support ASDC’s work and visibility.

Advocacy/Advancing A Policy-Oriented Agenda

Preparing information for advocacy

  • Identify and communicates relevant information for a variety of audiences for advocating ASDC’s mandate
  • Maintain a functioning network of contacts with a variety of stakeholders to promote a better understanding of ASDC’s mandate and to support advocacy efforts

Results-Based Programme Development and Management

Contributes into results through primary research and analysis

  • Assess project performance to identify success factors and incorporates best practices into project work
  • Research linkages across programme activities to identify critical points of integration
  • Monitor specific stages of projects/programme implementation
  • Participate in the formulation of project proposals and ensures substantive rigor in the design and application of proven successful approaches and drafts proposals accordingly.

Building Strategic Partnerships

Maintaining a network of contacts

  • Maintain an established network of contacts for general information sharing and to remain up-to-date on partnership related issues

Promoting Organizational Learning and Knowledge Sharing

Basic research and analysis

  • Generate new ideas and approaches, researches best practices and proposes new, more effective ways of doing things
  • Document and analyses innovative strategies and new approaches

Resource Mobilization

Providing inputs to resource mobilization strategies

  • Analyze information/databases on potential and actual donors

Global Leadership and Advocacy for ASDC’s Goals

Preparing information for global advocacy

  • Identify and communicate relevant information for advocacy for ASDC’s goals for a variety of audiences

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, English literature, international relations or public policy is required
  • At least three, and preferably five years professional experience coordinating and executing internal and external advocacy project preferably in internationally- or humanitarian-focused organizations
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to perform in stressful situations with tight deadlines are essential
  • Familiarity with international humanitarian issues and key actors is essential; knowledge in persons with disabilities rights is beneficial
  • Proficiency in English is highly desired
